TYRONE’S CONOR MCKENNA is itching to continue his run in the AFL, as he seeks to secure a contract extension with Essendon.
The Melbourne-based side first signed McKenna in 2014 when he was 18, and after earning a one-year extension as well as breaking through to the senior squad, he is now out of contract.
Nothing has yet been finalised regarding his future at the club, although the Brisbane Times reported in July that discussions were underway to give McKenna a two-year extension.
The Tyrone man has impressed since making his debut in 2015. Last month, he produced this stunning moment of brilliance during a crucial win over Gold Coast on the run to the AFL finals.

After collecting a pass along the sidelines, he turned his opponent with blistering pace before firing the ball between the posts for a goal.
According to the official Essendon FC website, McKenna has played 32 games for the club since his arrival Down Under.
Things didn’t go to plan for Essendon this weekend however, as the Sydney Swans inflicted a 65-point hammering on them in an AFL elimination final.
But speaking to Fox Sports, McKenna said that he wants to continue playing for the Bombers for as long as he can.
“Yeah, there’s no reason to leave, the Bombers have been great to me and I’ve had a few games, so there’s no reason (to go). I’ll let the manager sort that out and I’ll just keep playing football.
I still definitely want to stay in the AFL,” he continued. “I’ll play it by year and I definitely want to stay. To win a Premiership here and go home and win an All-Ireland final would be unbelievable. It definitely is in the back of my mind to go home at some stage but I’ll stay for as long as I can.”
